Product Description
Introducing the world's first consumer television with the innovative LIFI light source. LIFI stands for LIght FIdelity. This is a brand-new way to achieve long light source life, quick start-up time and high color fidelity for projection displays. Unlike conventional LCD projection TVs, the LIFI light source lasts so long it might never need to be changed. The High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps used in conventional LCD projection TVs contain electrodes that deteriorate, causing diminished brightness and possible damage to the lamp itself. LIFI does not utilize electrodes, which helps achieve more stable performance and a long lifespan. The light source in Panasonic LIFI HDTVs offers full spectrum illumination that faithfully reproduces brilliant red, emerald green and natural skin tones. Whether you're watching hidden camera footage of rare Amazon Forest dwellers or taking in the local newscast, the lifelike color is a bright, beautiful enhancement to your HDTV experience. The 1080p HD display capability provides twice the number of pixels as 720p HDTV displays for superior detail and extraordinary HDTV reproduction. The LIFI lamp is an advancement in technology that offers advantages that you can see and hear - or not, in the case of scintillation noise. HID lamps generate noise, especially at high brightness levels. You won't hear the hum with the LIFI because it operates at lower wavelengths. Plus, because the small LIFI bulb heats up quickly when you power up, the start-up time of the HDTV is as low as 10 seconds. Once your HDTV is ready to watch, there's no flicker, as with some LCD TVs.Everything about the LIFI HDTV is designed to bring you to a new level of viewing pleasure. The amazing colors are boosted by the floating feeling provided by the flat panel design, and the audio is rendered more lifelike by the invisible speakers that help fuse picture and sound. The all-black design adds a sleek, modern and luxurious look to your room.

I’ve had this TV for about 10 months now and I still can’t believe how good the picture is when I’m watching high def sports! I traded in a Mits 65″ for this one after a week of listening to a very noisy unit. Color wheel, cooling fan, all makes for a lot of noise. Noise that THIS set doesn’t make. Another advantage over the Mits is that if I’m moving around the room or I have a lot of people over, we can see the picture pretty well at an angle. If you weren’t dead center to the Mits, you couldn’t see the picture at all. Here is my review of the unit, where I get slammed for slamming it! But frankly this is a better tv to my eyes. Do take into cosideration that I rarely watch movies, I bought this to watch football and hockey. So some reviews that go on about the blacks appearing grey…well I don’t notice that. Looks like the LIFI is a winner!

We ordered this tv and got it pretty quick. Since it’s been set up and in use, my husband and I have decided this is our best investment of the year!!!!!!! Great picture and sound!!!!!

Great TV for it’s price!
5 years ago, we spent $3500 on a 61″ tube but HDTV-ready Sony
so I was reluctant to spend a similar amount for a flat-screen
HDTV. I saw one of the Panasonic displays at Sears and really like
the picture, although I don’t think that was even the LIFI technology.
I checked the internet, which routed me to Amazon and was able to do comparison shopping and find out more on the different types of HDTV panasonic carries. Six Avenue offered the best deal and for a great price! The picture is just amazing, best deal!!

Guys I bought this thing in Jan, and I have just now hooked it up and got the ball running. People this TV picture is Outstanding! Period! I mean I had like 15 people over come over and each and every one said this was the best picture they had seen all hands down. I love this Tv and backed with a 5yr warranty you can’t go wrong. Panasonic says this bulb may never have to be changed. Wow! Sad news though guys this model will soon be phased out. Why because Panasonic is moving towards an all LCD Model trend. But hey LIFI will still be used so the way I look at are that when I want to by another one of these puppies it will definitly be LCD. Great Tv, Good Buy and a sure must have!

If you had told me 2 years ago, that I could purchase a 61″ Panasonic LCD Projection TV with this quality for $1250 delivered, I would have called you a liar.
I paid $1500 for my 32″ LCD TV 2 1/2 years ago. This Panasonic TV makes my old 32″ look like a child.
Great 1080p for movies and other HD content. Even tha native Cable TV resolution of 480p, the pictures is stunning. The TV starts up very quickly. Does not generate a lot of heat and is viewable from almost any angle.
The only drawback I have found (and I believe this is true of all projection TV’s) is that at the lower resolutions of 480p when watching regular cable broadcasts, the blacks can get washed out and scenes that are dark can be hard to see correctly. This does not happen at 1080i or 1080p with HD. In those modes, the blacks are clear and very dark.
Overall, I’d buy this again. Plus with a 5 year warranty on the bulb, why wouldn’t you?

Big picture, big sound. It’s already amazing by itself, but once it’s connected to a PS3 and a Home Theater with HDMI cables, it can’t be beat… not to mention that it’s only about 70lbs!

I am so impressed with the Panasonic PT-61LCZ70 that I finally broke down and wrote my first review after making numerous purchases and never taking the time. The picture is fantastic and highly adjustable. I did my due diligence and reviewed all of the current material avaialable including AVS forum, CNET etc. The picture is bar none without any distortion, bars or other issues that are complained about within the reviews or forums (one wonders if they had a defective set to review). I have compared the picture to my other Panasonic plasma 1080i and 1080p (TH-42Z77U) sets and see no difference in picture quality. The fact that the bulb is warranteed for 5 years and does not need to be replaced, like most DLP sets, is a huge advantage and one that is secondary to the picture quality and esthetics of the unit. Definitely a great value and recommended buy, and as always Amazon delivered flawlessly on price and delivery.

I recently bought a 61″ panasonic lifi hdtv. I was kinda skeptical at first with the lifi lamp being the new thing and all, but the tv is worth every penny spent. Excellent color reproduction and color contrast. Playing xbox360 on it looks absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend the Panasonic LIFI to anybody looking for a new tv. For what they’re priced they blow the competition out of the water. Click the link below to check it out Panasonic PT-61LCZ70 61″ 1080p LIFI Rear Projection HDTV

All I can say is the price was a great bargain and the picture is to die for! Connected to my HD DirecTV DVR and HD DVD and Blue Ray players is the best clarity I have ever seen. If this LiFi system lives up to its promise Panasonic has a great projection system available to the main line consumer! Amazon is a great provider of products and decent prices and Vanns from Montanna was quick and friendly to track my purchase! We had terrible weather here in Wisconsin the week of my delivery and I had to meet the shipper at the base of my road due to snow up to our necks, but I was prepaired with a S-10 truck to retrieve it. So all in all I am a very happy owner of a great performing HDTV and am in second heaven enjoying my programming and movies. Very easy hookups and menu setup to. Anybody on a budget and space for this 61 inch beauty cannot go wrong! Thankyou Panasonic, Amazon and Vanns!!!

Ok, it is August 16, 2008 and I have run into my first problem with this tv. After about 10 minutes of viewing tonight, the picture is suddenly blacking out and the green power-on light will flash as if I’m turning the tv on and then the picture comes back but after about 10 minutes, it will repeat the blackout and green flashing. I guess I’ll have to call a service center to see what’s up
I recently received my new Panasonic PT-61LCZ70 61″ set. Dang, the thing is BIG! So far so good for me. I have been a tube television person all my life and this is my first non-tube TV. The first thing that attracted me was the price (on sale). The pic quality is different than the tube I had but also keeping in mind that this tv is at least three times bigger than all previous TVs I have owned and it’s NOT a tube TV. I’m impressed that I get this very good to great quality picture from this unit with such a large screen/pic created by a (LIFI) bulb. I am also happy with the remote and adjustment features (and I too am a video game player and the xbox 360 games look fantastic on it). I recently received my HD cable box and the difference is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! How did I ever put up with regular (480 is it?) resolution for so long! Just watched the Oscars with a couple friends and I switched channels between regular and HD and they were very impressed and one was a little confused because the difference was so extreme. One friend was sold and began inquiring about where I had purchased the set. I am (still) not experiencing any flaws in the picture as I have seen stated in some reviews but then again, I haven’t had this unit for very long. If problems DO ARISE in the near future with this unit, I will definitely edit this post again. After having this set for over a month now, I agree with one reviewer saying that with regular TV (non-HD), darks can get lost (night-time or dark scenes) but this is not a problem with HD. Also agree with another reviewer saying if this set holds up (5 year LIFI), for the money, this set will be a STEAL!

This is a great TV for the price, I have no issues out of the box and as far as I can see it does great with High Def single from bright house. One thing that I like is that it gets a great picture in the none high def channels as well. The back light adjustment is nice in the fact that you can take care of that over light washed out black look, however in effect lowers the detail in the dark areas due to lack of light. Overall its a great buy for the price.

I am not a person who writes reviews so that should say alot my new Panasonic LIFI is gorgeous. I install home theatres and have seen my fair share of lcd’s and plasmas and if you don’t have money to burn and need HD like I do this is the TV for you. For the money you’ll spend to install a flat panel the right way (infra red, wall mount)you can have a 61′ full HD, stand, and a little scratch left over for whatever else you might need to keep up with the Jones’s. And I guess we’ll see about lamp life.
ps. Sixth ave Electronics Best Deal!

I debated long and hard whether I wanted plasma/lcd flat screen or rear projection. A friend of mine bought the 60″ Sony Bravia XBR rear projection TV in November and paid $2500. After hooking it up to a BluRay player and convincing him to go Satellite, I was astonished at the sharpness and quality of the rear projections image. When I found the Panasonic 61″ for $1298, I thought that it must have an inferior, lower quality picture. I was so, so wrong. The picture is as sharp, bright, rich and warm as the Sony, and rivals some flat screens. The picture frame is not too thick and has a nice gloss black finish. All front controls are concealed, and it even has an easy to find power button on the front. The LIFI bulb technology is an added bonus of this TV. It has a very quick power up cycle and the cooling fans are noise free. I have replaced the bulbs twice in 10 years on my 45″ Pioneer rear projection unit at $300 a pop. If you want more bang for your buck, then you cant go wrong with this TV, especially with free shipping.

I have had this TV for about two months and have no complaints. I bought this from Amazon and paid $1250.00 for it with no taxes and free shipping. You will not beat that price for a 61″ anywhere. This is my second projection tv. My first was a 65″ Mitsubishi and was about 5 years old and have never had a problem with it. However, I have researched many projection tv’s and after hearing all problems with the new dlp’s. I bought this because of the lifi bulb’s which have a five year warranty. All the other brand’s have had trouble with the bulb’s constantly burning out. I have heard the complaints on the picture on this tv, and can say they are mosly not true. You can see some lines going across the screen every once of a great while, but I have found it is caused by a poor picture quality coming from the tv station. Even then it is hardly noticable. I had to adjust the color when I firt bought this dlp, but now it blows away all the other large screen projections that I have watched. It is to bad that Panasonic got such bad reviews on this from the “professionals” when it first came out, because they would have gave Sony a run for the money. If this tv lasts for a long time it will be a steal.
